Being able to backup your work and feel in a safe, controllable environment is what we’ve been trying to pursuit from day one in this quest. You can use this feature to download your site personalizations made with CSS Hero to a file, to backup your work, and restore it later on the same, or a different site / domain (running the same Theme of course).
In the Settings > CSS Hero panel, below the Static CSS settings section, you will see the CSS Hero Export / Import Tool:
How to download your backup file
The simple, single current_csshero_settings.txt file will save your life in case of events like database crashes, unreliable web hosts, or for moving your work from one domain to another.
This file contains only the ACTIVE settings – not your full history; but you can export whenever you want, and keep locally stored in your computer all the meaningful steps.
Restoring from the backup file
To restore the site settings from a current_csshero_settings.txt local file:
In the CSS Hero settings page illustrated above, head over to the section called Upload a current_csshero_settings.txt file and replace current state.
- Choose the file – it’s name should be current_csshero_settings.txt
- Tick the warning flag and make sure that’s what you want to do,
- Click the Activate button
Notes and Requirements:
- Available on CSS Hero 1.21 or later.
